Santa Fe Trastero

In New Mexico, a trastero was a cupboard used for food storage and is distinguished by openings in the door to allow for air circulation to help the food remain fresh. An armoire, on the other hand, was used primarily to hold clothing, so an opening in the doors was unnecessary.
