Finishes
With Ernest Thompson Furniture, finishes are endless. Just as our furniture and cabinetry can be customized just for you, so can our finishes.
Whether its a custom finish or one of our many standards, we favor traditional finishing techniques because they allow our furniture’s beauty to improve with the passing years and its daily use. On its way to completion, each piece is repeatedly hand sanded to smooth its wood surfaces. Individually formulated stains and paints are hand rubbed throughout, and coats of sealers and lacquers are applied to all areas, imparting a rich embellishment that, over time, will mature into a gorgeous patina. Many of our finishes also utilize antiquing glazes that even greater depth to the wood.
While some of our furniture is shipped with smooth, stained surfaces, we also specialize in applying a range of distressing techniques that make a piece look aged and worn. The combination of glazes and distressing can give a new piece of furniture the charm of a favorite antique.
We will always send a sample finish to you for your final approval.
